ABOUT THE COUGARS
The Cougars Baseball and Softball Club is now part of Elmhurst Youth Baseball!
This is an exciting opportunity for EYB Cougars softball to grow and develop youth players with both House and Travel programs in Elmhurst!
The Cougars travel organization has been committed to player development and creating positive learning, competitive experiences for young athletes. We strongly encourage and support multi-sport athletes and our coaches work with parents to build schedules that allow players flexibility to pursue different interests while still enjoying the competitive experience of travel softball.
Cougars players are carefully evaluated and selected by veteran coaches and season schedules are constructed to ensure teams are facing appropriate competition based on the girls’ relative experience and skill levels. For example, our current 12U, 13U, and 16U teams play at the highest level of competition (Premier Girls Fastpitch and USSSA-open levels).
We also have “developmental” teams that play in more local, B- and C-level leagues and tournaments.Cougars players also benefit from access to some of the best winter training facilities in the Chicago area, including D-Bat DuPage, Bo Jackson's Elite Sports in Bensenville (aka, the Bo Dome) and York High School. These facilities enable our coaches to conduct a wide array of skill-building, agility training, cage work and full scrimmages and games that ensure the girls are well-prepared to hit the fields when spring season begins. In addition to player development, we also prioritize affordability, with fees typically between $1,000 and $2,000 per player for a full season. This is significantly more cost effective than similar programs in the western suburbs.
The EYB organization as a whole reinvests any of its profits back into the community, specifically toward improving fields. Over the past four years, EYB has worked with the Elmhurst Park District, Elmhurst Public Schools, Oakbrook Terrace Park District, and Elmhurst College to make significant improvements to many fields, including Salt Creek Park, Butterfield 1, Berens 5, Sandburg, and Terrace View Park. These facilities are the gold standard for baseball and softball in the Elmhurst area.
